I'm Baaaaack!

Okay, so in a senior moment, I actually forgot I had a blog... It just seems that I have been so busy but if you asked me what I have been doing, I don't think I could tell you. However, Susan told me I needed to update my blog and she is so right. Thank you, Susan. (you know which one you are)

I have my DH taking pictures of the projects I have been working on and I will post those later but I thought I would just update a little.

A really enthusiastic group of stitchers of all types have been working diligently to get our local chapter of the Embroiderer's Guild of America up and running. The local chapter here in San Angelo, Tx has finally be approved and we are full fledged member of the EGA. We are called the Concho Pearl chapter, named after a special gem found only in a certain mollusk in the Concho river. It's kinda purpley-pinky and it is really pretty.

My sister in law, as some of you know, is in a nursing care facility with early onset dementia from Frontal Temporal Atrophy. She just had her 60th birthday. We recently moved her to a more specialized facility with an Alzheimer's unit. She is so much happier there. It is quieter than the regular nursing home she was at before and all the patients have similar issues so the staff can really focus on their needs. It was interesting to see the piece on CBS Sunday Morning last Sunday about the rise in Alzheimers and dementia related diseases, especially early onset. I had no idea how prevalent this was until it happened to us.

I am a recent Weight Watchers convert and things are going well in that area. I turned 50 this year, got on the scale and went "Crud!" (or words to that effect!) . So I tried the one program I hadn't tried and have lost about 15 pounds so far.

I have been stitching away and knitting now to. I will post pictures and try to be better about updating here.

By for now!

Finally, I post Something!

I can't believe I haven't posted since June 1. Egad! I think it has been just too hot and I am just not motivated. But I have a been busy. I have my craft room about half done. I never knew I had so much STUFF. I am not sure where it is all going to go. lol

I have a couple of finishes this month. Finally finished the french knot bunny tail on Miss Fiona Rose Garden by By the Bay.
I have worked on a couple of Halloween projects and finish a special one by La D Da:

I have a couple more in progress that I need to finish but I little at a time...

I recentlly I took up yet another hobby. Knitting. I am really enjoying this and, of course, I want to make the most complex projects. lol. But I have finished a simple knit scarf and neckwarmer. I know , I know, its hot in Texas but it's the process of learning a new craft.
I make it a goal this month to post more often, cross my heart!

June goals and May revisited

Wow, June is here. That means its summer. How did that happen? I got a number of things done in May, stitchy and non-stitchy so I feel like it was a good month. I was a little ambitious in setting my stitching goals so I plan on being a little more conservative this time - snicker!

For stitching this month I am going to finish a couple of works in progress, get some work done on a Bap or two and get some of my pieces framed. I also volunteered to help get an EGA chapter started in my area, so if anyone has had experience with, your thoughts are most welcome. I also need to get my crafting room set up. Lots to do!!

Sunday March 31 2009

Hi, all. It has been a very busy week. We had our first meeting on the new stitchers group here in San Angelo. Some very nice ladies showed up and it was great to meet them. I learned about a fiber shop here that I did not know about and had time after the meeting to go by. Its called WoolnCotton. Such a neat little store, although mostly knitting, wool and fabric. But it got me interested in expanding my crafting a little. I bought a knitting mag today and, true to form, everything I want to make takes advanced skills. I did the same thing with cross stitching lol. I think I start with a pot holder.

Just a couple of WIPs to show today:

First is Miss Fiona's Rose Garden by By the Bay Needlearts. I ran out of the thread to finish the petals but it is on the way. I also got tired knotting for the tail and have to finish that but it's close.

Next is Night Creatures by the Gathering Place. I try to do at least one Christmas, Easter and Halloween each year. Guess which one this is. I did it on 14ct that I had in my stash. I haven't used 14ct in years and it's not my favorite but I like the colors on this.

And, finally, Heavenly Grace by P.Buckley Moss. I never knew there were so many shades of Light Blue lol.

More later, y'all

May 1 - Beginning Again

It has been a while since I posted, so much has been going on. So I figure May Day is a good time to start new. My DH and I have finally moved to San Angelo, Texas. I have spent the last couple of weeks packing and now have to unpack - yuk! But we are here and I love it. It is nice to walk outside and it is warm. I loved living in East Texas and met some of the nicest people there but I miss the warm dry of West Texas .
I am setting up my stitching room - Yahoo! It will take a while but I am stitching along anyway. I have almost finished Miss Fiona Rose Garden but I got to the end of one color and need just a little more. I ordered it and expect it to get here before I am done with the french knots on her tail!
Thanks to the help and patience of my DH, I finally have some picture to show. Next time he will probably take the pictures since I, apparently, can not focus LOL.

Here are a few WIPS:

This is the very beginning of Lavender and Lace Fairy Godmother.
